Our favorite Appalachian Scientist will return next week to explain Black Lung in Coal Miners. Dr. Michael McCawley, PhD, will explain the causes of Black Lung and Impacts on Appalachian Coal Miners.

Black lung is most common in coal miners, but it can also affect people who work in other dusty occupations, such as stonemasons, quarry workers, and steelworkers. The risk of developing black lung increases with the amount of coal dust that a person is exposed to.
